Clare started online coaching with me in early Summer 2019. She had been diagnosed with a bulging disc in her lower back which was extremely painful and totally restricted any movement, never mind her ability to exercise! Read on to see how she is getting on.

How did you hear about Adam’s online coaching?

Adam is my lovely friend Laura’s husband! So I knew all about his coaching and training and asked Laura if he could help me after I had an injury.


How long have you been using online coaching with Adam and why did you start?

I started online coaching with Adam early Summer 2019. I had been diagnosed with a bulging disc in my lower back which was extremely painful and totally restricted my movement, never mind my exercise! I had undergone a nerve block and 8 weeks after this my consultant said I was ready to start with some physio exercises. Although these were helping at first, I felt I needed help to progress further and to progress and make a difference to my daily life more quickly.


What is your favourite exercise?

Not sure I have a favourite haha! I’m not really a gym/exercise person if I’m honest, but I feel so much benefit from the workouts that they are totally worth it!


How has training with Adam helped you to achieve your goals?

Since starting my programme with Adam I very quickly felt the benefits to my lower back pain – I became more stable and the discomfort gradually reduced. It has taken time, and Adam has gradually adapted the workouts to challenge me more, whilst still being very careful of my lower back. I feel so much stronger, happier and aware of my body and how to make movements correctly, using other muscle groups eg glutes & core to avoid any strain on my lower back.


What is your proudest moment?

I don’t have a specific ‘moment’ as this has been a gradual journey that I am still ongoing – however, I am in such a better place with my mobility and pain – I largely attribute this to the workouts and I guess I am proud that I kept going and progressed them to see a steady improvement in my condition. I know that this is now a part of my everyday life and I need to keep up to the workouts on a regular basis to continue to feel the benefit. At one point I never thought that I would be able to do any type of exercise again – Adam has helped me to go further than I thought possible!


Do you follow a strict food plan?

Not really – I didn’t ask Adam to review my diet/food as my plan was not for weight loss – it was purely to help me with my injury and to gain strength, mobility and fitness


What is your favourite treat food?

Is wine a good answer?!

How did you hear about Adam’s online coaching?


I have known Adam for a good few years now (I was the photographer at his wedding!) But with being over 100 miles away from him, the discussion never really came up about having the use of his skills to improve my health. This all changed with one conversation during the summer, over a round of golf, about his online training!


How long have you been doing online coaching with Adam and why did you start?


After the initial chat over a cuppa in August 2019, I needed to be in the right frame of mind to implement the suggested programme and it actually took me until October to get things arranged. The main thing we discussed was my closing into 40 and the shape my body was starting to take. I was increasing the weight around my middle and didn’t have any plans to rectify this. I have done a few different weight loss ‘things’ in the past, from a peas and sweetcorn diet at home (12 years ago) with a friend including some running and then a 6-week programme at a local gym, which was lots of sessions in the gym and very much chicken and broccoli only. Coaching with Adam is very different!

What is your least favourite exercise?


Slider body saws - does anyone actually like them?!


How has training with Adam helped you to achieve your goals?


It has totally fit around my crazy life and not taken time away from childcare or busy weekends. The food has been a challenge in the evenings with my little girl not always wanting what I am having but it’s way better than just broccoli and chicken! There are plenty of options.


I was very very regimented in the first 6 weeks and stuck to the letter of the programme, since getting used to it I have swapped out some items in meals for others in the plan (in discussion with Adam) just to fit with what’s in the fridge and reducing waste. overall the weight loss has been steady and the muscle toning obvious to myself and anyone who has seen me in the last 4 weeks since being out and about more with work. It’s still very much work in progess and not close to the end yet, I still have a bit too move from my stomach but 18.5cm gone already has to be seen as a great success!


What is your proudest moment?

Seeing my jeans go from being tight to not! And actually fitting well into a ‘S’ T-shirt again. The only down side is some of my clothes now have been stretched into funny shapes and fit on my shoulders but not on my middle. The classic, needing to iron them on a wok look.


Do you follow a strict food plan?


Yes, 1600 cals a day and have only gone over a couple of times other than cheat days and Christmas. I try and not miss out on snack etc as per the plan to make sure i’m not eating my hands at 8pm!


What is your favourite treat food?


Its weird, peanut butter is in the plan but on a cheat day I just end up craving more of it! Also cheese! I miss and crave it. but as ever, if I sit chewing on a block of cathedral city I wont progress with my goals.






Sarah managed to lose a stone on her own but then started to lose motivation, didn’t really see any difference in her shape and didn’t have a ‘goal’ to work towards. So she starting doing online training with Adam. Find out about her journey here.

I’ve been friends with Adam and his wife for a few years now and have followed NRG4LIFE on social media trying to get tips and saw that he had launched online coaching, so decided to give it a go!

I started my online coaching in June 2019 so its been roughly 6 months now.


What is your favourite exercise?


Landmine single leg RDL


What is your least favourite exercise?


Squats!!!


How has training with Adam helped you to achieve your goals?


I originally signed up to help me with my stamina and strength for Tough Mudder, which I managed to complete in August. I’ve also reduced my body fat and my changed my body shape significantly without losing any additional weight.


What is your proudest moment?

Other than completing Tough Mudder (which I was super proud of!) it was seeing my September progress pictures and looking at how my shape and posture had changed in such a short period of time.


Do you follow a strict food plan?


Not strict! I managed to lose weight and change my eating habits before I signed up with Adam, we now focus more on my macros and he usually tells me off for not eating enough!


What is your favourite treat food?


Pizza!
